Frequently asked questions
Carpet cleaning
How is carpet cleaning priced?
Per area. A room, a hallway, a set of stairs or a large rug each count as one area. Tell us what you’ve got in the quote form and we’ll text you the price.
How long does a room take?
About 25 minutes per room once we’re set up. A typical three-bedroom home with a hallway and stairs takes two to three hours.
How long does it take to dry?
Most carpet is dry in 3 to 6 hours. Upholstery is usually similar. Open a window or run the heat or a fan and it goes faster. You can walk on carpet right away in clean socks.
Is it safe for kids and pets?
Yes. We use plant-based cleaning solutions that are safe for kids and pets, and we rinse them out with hot water, so nothing sticky is left behind to attract dirt.
Do I need to vacuum or move furniture first?
A quick vacuum helps. Please move small things like toys, plants and breakables. We can work around big furniture or move lighter pieces for you. Very neglected carpet may need extra vacuuming, and we’ll tell you before we start if it does.
What if I’m not happy with the result?
We walk through the job with you before we start and again when we’re done. If anything isn’t right, we fix it on the spot or come back. If we still can’t make it right, you get a full refund.
Sofas and upholstery
Should I add Ultra Protection?
On a sofa that gets daily use, usually yes. Clean fabric is at its most absorbent, so the first spill after a clean soaks in fast. Ultra Protection gives you time to blot it up. See the Ultra Protection page for how it works.
What can you clean?
Sofas, sectionals, loveseats, armchairs, recliners, dining chairs, ottomans, headboards and mattresses, in most fabrics and leather. Send us a photo of the tag if you’re not sure.
Can you get pet urine out of a couch?
Usually, yes. We treat the source with an enzyme pre-treatment and flush it out. Old accidents that have soaked deep into the cushion foam can leave a faint mark, and we’ll tell you honestly what to expect before we start.
Ultra Protection
Is fabric protector worth it?
On upholstery, almost always. Sofas and dining chairs get spills, body oils and pet hair every day, and they’re expensive to replace. On carpet, it’s most worth it on light colours, stairs and hallways.
Is Ultra Protection the same as Scotchgard?
It does the same job. Scotchgard is a brand name; Ultra Protection is what we call the protector we use.
How long does it last?
It wears down with use and cleaning, so it lasts longer on a formal chair than on the family couch. Most people reapply it each time the piece is professionally cleaned.
Does it make fabric stain-proof?
No protector makes fabric stain-proof. It buys you time. Blot spills quickly and most will come up without a trace.
Move-outs
Will I get a receipt for my landlord?
Yes. You get a dated invoice that lists what was cleaned, which is what most landlords ask to see.
Can you come on the last day of the month?
Often, yes, but those days fill up first. Book a week or two ahead for the 30th, 31st or the 1st.
Do I need to be there?
No. Many move-outs are done with a lockbox or a key left with the building manager. We’ll text you when we start and when we’re done.
Do you work with property managers?
Yes. We can invoice the management company directly and handle repeat turnovers across buildings.
Tile and grout
Will my grout look new?
Most grout comes back a long way. Grout that’s stained deep or crumbling may need re-colouring or re-grouting, and we’ll tell you during the walkthrough.
Should I seal my grout afterwards?
For kitchens and entryways, yes. Sealer slows down how fast the grout soaks up dirt again. Ask your technician about it when you book.
Do you clean natural stone?
Tell us what you have first. Marble, limestone and travertine are sensitive to acidic cleaners, so they need a different process.
